Kim Amidon was let go from KOST radio FM by the stations owner Clear Channel in an apparent cost cutting move. The show has been renamed from the Mark & Kim show to Morning Show with Mark Wallengren.

I was shocked when I heard this. If this was a cost-cutting move by the management, I think they will regret it, as KOST will lose a lot of listeners in the morning (especially women).
Clear Channel has really made a bad decision. You've lost me as a listener after almost 20 years of listening to "Mark & Kim". Sorry to hear of such a callous move on their part.
Perhaps Clear Channel should start cutting the budget at the top. Why would they stop something that has worked so well for 22 years? Clear Channel is not in touch with their listening audience at all. If they cut the budget enough to have no listeners...was it worth the money?
Kim clearly dominated Mark in their format, especially when the Movie Mom was on.... Think that could have been handled more professionally and Kim could have been offered different time slot. Don't believe it was really cost cutting. Think it has been covered up, whitewashed, and now not sure if I trust the news from KOST. Let's hear it!

KOST you have lost a loyal listener even to your Christmas season. Time to plug in the iPod for my 24/7 Christmas music. Mark and Kim had great dance going on together. Now it's like watching one person do a Tango. It is not very fun. Clear channel should get their channels clear in the future.
Hi it’s Mark. I’ve been following much of what has been written and I feel compelled to comment.
I’ve talked with Kim several times about putting another show together and she told me she doesn’t want to work in radio again. I hope that’s not true. She has said that she’ll listen to any offers.
Anyone know about playing office politics? Well for a long time Kim has expressed on the air and in the halls that she wanted to do something else. I think maybe one too many times. I do know that the company had to make painful financial decisions that affected many here at our station both on and off the air. I guess, knowing Kim’s feelings, they felt the time was right and opted not to renew her contract in 2008. Greg Ashlock told me he doesn’t want anyone to ‘need’ to work here he wants people that ‘want’ to work here. Nuff said? She did receive severance pay that insures that she won’t have to work for years if she chooses. Kim wants to become a writer. She has an agent and is pursuing that field.
I have told Kim that many people want to catch up with her. Her daughter Bevy is supposed to be putting up a Myspace.com page for her. When that happens I will post that address on my blog! If I can’t convince Kim then I’m going to have to go out there and find that perfect partner again.
Yeah, I feel like I got blind sided with a baseball bat but you know what? When I got hired in 1985 I didn’t think I’d last six months.
It was an amazing 22 years and I will always have wonderful memories of the people we’ve met and fantastic things we were able to do while on the air. It’s always been such a blessing to work here and if at some point I am asked to leave I will be forever grateful for the time I was allowed be on the air and reach out to wonderful people like you.
In the meantime I hope you’ll continue to listen. I’m planning on a fantastic future here at Coast 103!
I just got back from a long out-of-the-country vacation. I was wondering what happened to Kim. I am so shock that there's no more Mark & Kim but the morning show!!! Mark & Kim has been my daily routine, waking on my alarm clock, dressing-up for the day, driving to work in the morning. I was always with Mark & Kim and this is very devastating to me!!! They are very good together, they have chemistry. The morning show is definitely not as good as the Mark & Kim! I miss Mark & Kim!!! I want them back!!!
Mark, you are a professional, as Kim is, I hope the best for you, and since 50% of the program is gone, I will be 50% listener, you as Kim are the best, I was out of the country for long time and I swear I didn't recognize the program, I thougt was listening something else, Mark good luck, I couldn't stop listening because you are great, and honestly I just going to be a 50% listener.
Although I was upset about Kim being let go, I am still a fan of Mark's. I admit I haven't listened to the show as often, but I check in now and then. Has anyone heard the woman that was on the show today? I think her name is Kristen Cruz. It sounds like she is doing the show with Mark. I've heard stella and Klaudia on the show before but they just add a few things now and then. This woman sounds like she is actually doing the show as a partner. I haven't listened the last few days. Did they announce a new host? Mark just said she is in there with him but didn't say anything about her being officially on the show. She is very different then Kim, but I think she is pretty funny. They mentioned she is pregnant. I think the show is so much better with a man and a woman on it. Mark is great but Kim is definitly missed. I hope this Kristen woman keeps doing the show. I might actually listen a little more again because it makes it more fun. They said she will be back tomorrow. I'm gonna listen tomorrow and see if she's there. I'm still mad at KOST for letting Kim go, but I liked hearing this new girl today. Has anyone else heard anything?
I miss Kim, Mark I am glad that you are still on the air but please don't be a "guy" and make comments like, "kim said one to many times that she wanted to do something else, her listeners and you as well know very well how much she loved her audience", continue to be the "man" we all laughed to in the morning not just a guy. Kim, I love you and I miss you, thank you for so many laughs and for getting me through traffic. Mark you will be fine, so leave out the unnecessary comments.
The new girl, Kristin Cruz, can
keep her political comments off the air. It ruins my listening. I don't like to get angry when I'm listening to love songs, OK?
Mark and Kim hbave their own YouTube channell.
Somehow, the name "Mark and Kristin" just does not sound good.
